The Claims Recovery practice is a specialized unit within BDO's Forensics – Risk division. We quantify, compile, and prepare property damage, extra expense, and business interruption insurance claims for a wide array of insured perils. Our scope ranges from property damage assessments and forensic accounting to litigation support, loss quantification, and expert testimony.
At BDO, our purpose is helping people thrive every day. As an ESOP company, we are the first large accounting and advisory organization to implement an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, reflecting a culture that puts people first by sharing financially in our growth with our U.S. team. We are committed to delivering exceptional experiences to middle-market leaders, helping them move from "business as usual" to "better than usual" through insight-driven perspectives and unwavering quality.
The Director, Claims Recovery (Building) serves as a primary contact for clients throughout engagement delivery, responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships while overseeing project work and deliverables. This role sits at the intersection of technical expertise and client service, requiring you to interact with property experts, insurance adjusters, risk managers, and legal counsel.
You will lead the quantification of insurance claims, predominantly resulting from property damage caused by wind, water, fire, earth, or human-induced events, including large catastrophes like hurricanes and floods. The position demands a technically capable individual who collects and interprets relevant data to evaluate the scope and cost of work involved. You will perform site visits, conduct condition assessments, and produce accurate repair and replacement estimates for large commercial complex losses.
Beyond technical execution, this role is pivotal in driving growth. You will actively participate in business development to build rapport with existing clients and generate new work, while also recruiting additional staff and mentoring less experienced team members. You will ensure the engagement team adheres to firm quality control standards while delivering superior work products to internal and external clientele.
Candidates with strong experience in the construction industry, estimators with reconstruction project experience, or roofing specialists are encouraged to apply. The role requires a willingness to travel nationwide on short notice as needed.
BDO is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability and veterans. We welcome diverse perspectives and are committed to understanding the experiences of our professionals and clients. Our culture centers on making meaningful connections, approaching interactions with curiosity, and being true to yourself while making a positive difference in the world.
