The Family Support Program (FSP) Director serves as the strategic leader for the Center, ensuring its mission of supporting families is realized through effective program development, implementation, and evaluation. This role is pivotal in maintaining the Center's philosophy while overseeing all operational aspects, from budgeting and fundraising to facilities management and staff supervision.
The Director acts as the primary liaison between the Center and Maryland Family Network, collaborating closely with consultants to drive program implementation and evaluation. Success in this position requires a deep commitment to the Family Support philosophy and the ability to navigate diverse educational, cultural, and economic backgrounds with respect and empathy.
As the Director, you will ensure the smooth flow of the program while prioritizing the care, safety, and well-being of staff, participants, and volunteers. Your day involves coordinating community outreach to identify participant needs and mobilizing local resources. You will lead staff meetings, facilitate orientation and training, and foster a culture of professional development.
A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to financial stewardship, including preparing budgets with multiple income sources and securing additional funding. You will also prepare statistical and programmatic reports for internal and external stakeholders, including the sponsoring agency, MFN Directors, and the FSC Advisory Committee. Throughout your tenure, you will model appropriate interactions with young children and parents, balancing independent decision-making with collaborative leadership.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate a proven track record of leadership, including the ability to hire, terminate, and evaluate staff effectively. The selection process will focus on identifying individuals who can articulate a clear vision, build effective teams, and maintain strict confidentiality regarding participant information.
