The Department of Epidemiology and Public Health (EPH) at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) is home to strong, innovative research programs spanning biostatistics, bioinformatics, gerontology, cancer epidemiology, genomic and infectious disease epidemiology, maternal and child health, preventive medicine, and population health. EPH maintains a long, successful record of leading important clinical trials funded by federal agencies, private foundations, and industry sponsors.
Given the growing demand for clinical trial expertise at UMSOM, the Department is recruiting an Inaugural Director to lead the newly established Data Coordinating Center (DCC). This position represents a strategic institutional investment in expanding clinical trials infrastructure and fostering multidisciplinary research collaboration across the School of Medicine.
The Director will serve as the inaugural leader of a DCC designed to unify and expand existing clinical research coordination, data management, and quantitative support activities currently distributed across EPH, the School of Medicine, and the broader University. This hub will bring together expertise and infrastructure to provide integrated, scalable support for clinical trials and translational research initiatives across campus, including multisite trials and collaborative data science activities.
As the Director, you will shape the future of clinical trial infrastructure within one of the nation's leading academic medical centers. The role involves providing scientific and operational leadership, supervising multidisciplinary teams of trialists, biostatisticians, and data analysts, and collaborating with UMSOM faculty to design trials of promising interventions. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and sustain a nationally competitive, extramurally funded research and data coordination program while participating in teaching programs, including student mentoring and course leadership for graduate and medical students.
