This position serves as a bridge between the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior (DPHB) and the Quantitative Science Program (QSP) at Brown University. The incumbent will provide critical analytical support to DPHB members while simultaneously establishing an independent line of research with an open specialization. This dual focus ensures that the role contributes to the department's immediate scholarly output while fostering long-term investigative growth.
The role is designed for a scholar who thrives at the intersection of quantitative methodology and applied research. You will act as a liaison between the QSP and various programs within Brown University and its affiliated hospitals, facilitating collaboration across the institution. A core component of the position involves dedicating a minimum of 20% of your time to your own research program, for which dedicated space will be provided.
Your work will span research, teaching, and service. In the research capacity, you will assist in designing projects initiated by faculty, supervise data analyses, and contribute to the generation of scholarly publications through text, tables, and graphics. You will also seek funding for your independent studies from the NIH and other agencies.
In the classroom, you will develop and deliver courses, workshops, and seminar series on quantitative methods, including research design, data management, statistics, and psychometrics. You will also provide ongoing mentoring to junior faculty and trainees to support their methods and quantitative skills development.
Candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent degree in a quantitative discipline or a related field with a strong quantitative background, along with one or more years of post-doctoral experience. Preferred training includes Quantitative Psychology, Psychometrics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or Sociology. Experience with randomized clinical trials and intensive longitudinal data analysis is highly desirable.
The incumbent is expected to actively participate in all activities of the DPHB, QSP, and The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. We seek a candidate with a commitment to scholarly participation that integrates with the broader research community of the medical school.
