Volunteers of America Mid-States (VOA) is a non-profit organization spanning four states, dedicated to creating positive change in the lives of individuals and communities through a ministry of service. Since our founding in 1896, the spirit of "volunteer" has defined our mission: anyone who serves others as a vocation through a commitment to a cause. Today, we are staffed by paid, mission-driven professionals working to build thriving communities.
Our work includes providing housing for families, veterans, and low-income seniors; offering care and support for individuals with developmental disabilities; delivering healing accountability through restorative justice; and providing free HIV testing and education. Flexibility, teamwork, and fun are core reasons our employees are proud to work at VOA.
As a Direct Support Professional in the Indiana Developmental Disabilities Services program, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Your primary focus is providing direct care, training, and assistance in various aspects of daily living, self-care, leisure, and recreational activities. You will also support developmental training, prevocational, and vocational goals while upholding the rights of every consumer you serve.
In this role, you will interact with consumers in an emotionally supportive and therapeutic manner, utilizing effective techniques to reinforce positive behaviors. Your day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring comfort and safety, ensuring medical, nutritional, and personal care needs are met, and assisting with community integration by accompanying individuals to social activities. You will also help maintain a safe and clean living environment through general housekeeping, meal preparation, and routine maintenance tasks.
VOA is committed to a healthy work-life balance and offers a comprehensive benefits package. Eligible employees receive medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with a Flexible Spending Account and Health Spending Account. Additional perks include short-term disability, MetLife legal plans, financial wellbeing resources, and a company-paid life insurance policy. We also offer a 403b retirement plan with company fund matching and employee discounts.
Our culture is built on a foundation of service and integrity. We have established several committees to foster our values, including the Work Culture Commitment, Justice, Integrity, Compassion, and Retention Committees. We invest in your growth through the VOA LEAD Program for leadership development, VOA University for staff development, and the VOA Academy for clinical training.
We are an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, age, national origin, disability status, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
