The Criminal Justice Case Manager serves as a vital link within the Texas Correctional Office for Offenders with Medical and Mental Impairments (TCOOMMI) program. Based in Midland, this position is dedicated to the successful implementation of the Jail Diversion program, ensuring that individuals with serious mental illness receive the support they need to navigate the criminal justice system.
You will work independently under limited supervision to coordinate services and monitor mental health treatment for clients on probation or parole. A core part of your day involves building and maintaining positive relationships with local law enforcement, the judiciary, and the families of offenders. You will act as a member of the treatment team, conducting intake interviews, performing crisis screenings, and developing person-centered recovery plans tailored to each client's needs.
This role requires a flexible schedule, often extending beyond the standard Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm window to meet the dynamic needs of the agency and its clients. You will split your time between the office and the field, utilizing a trauma-informed approach in all interactions. The position demands regular travel, including potential after-hours and overnight trips, to visit agency program sites, community locations, and residential facilities. You will also be responsible for transporting agency individuals or those served as necessary.
Candidates selected for this role must meet specific regulatory and safety requirements. This includes maintaining a valid Texas Driver's license, carrying auto liability insurance, and having a driving record acceptable to PermiaCare's insurance standards. All applicants must successfully pass criminal history and background checks, as well as a pre-employment drug screen. Additionally, successful hires are required to obtain QMHP certification within six months of their start date.
