As a Direct Support Professional, you will be the cornerstone of an individual's daily life, providing essential support within a residential setting or periodic program. Typically supporting 4 to 6 individuals, your role is to empower them to exercise their rights and achieve their personal goals. Your day involves a dynamic blend of companionship and care, ranging from socialization and recreational activities to assisting with personal care, housekeeping, and community integration.
You will work closely with individuals to develop skills, manage health needs, and navigate daily living tasks such as meal preparation, transportation, and financial management. Whether accompanying an individual to a medical appointment, administering medication, or simply sharing a conversation, your presence helps build a safe, nurturing environment. You will also collaborate with families, guardians, and case managers to ensure a cohesive support network, always adhering to individual service plans and the highest standards of customer service.
To join our team, candidates must meet specific state and company requirements, including being at least 18 years old and possessing a valid driver's license in good standing. All new hires are subject to drug testing prior to employment, as well as criminal background checks and registry screenings (including the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities and Child Abuse Registry Information). Successful candidates must also complete all mandated state training and certifications within required timeframes.

Employees must cooperate with all inspections and inquiries by the Department of Human Services and maintain a clean driving record to remain eligible for transportation duties. If driving privileges are lost, employees may be restricted from driving on behalf of the company until requirements are met.
