This position serves as a vital member of the clinical team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, providing comprehensive Medical Nutrition Therapy to inpatients with a diverse range of medical conditions. The role is dedicated to performing malnutrition assessments, conducting nutrition-focused physical exams, delivering diet education, and formulating evidence-based nutrition support recommendations. All functions are executed in strict adherence to applicable laws, hospital policies, and MedStar's core "Spirit Values."
The dietitian will collaborate closely with physicians and allied health professionals to evaluate patient nutritional status and develop tailored treatment plans. This includes consulting on diet rationales for self-management, participating in clinical rounds, and documenting findings within the patient's medical record. The role requires flexibility to cross-cover various departments, including the Neonatal ICU and Pediatrics, ensuring seamless care continuity.
Beyond direct patient care, this position plays an active role in professional development and quality improvement. The incumbent is expected to review relevant literature, present case studies at Journal Club, and deliver annual professional presentations to peers or the community. Additionally, the role involves developing or updating education materials, policies, or QAPI projects as directed by the Clinical Nutrition Manager.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Food & Nutrition Science (with a completed accredited dietetic internship) and, if completed after January 1, 2024, a Master's degree. Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensure from the DC Department of Health are required upon hire.

Three years minimum of progressive clinical nutrition experience AND a Specialty certification recognized by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and/or Commission on Dietetic Registration as a major certification. CNSC - Certified Nutrition Support Clinician Or other specialty certification recognized by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and/or Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
