This position requires a favorable Tier 3 Security Investigation, which is equivalent to being processed for a Secret Clearance if selected for the role.
The primary objective of this role is to deliver comprehensive nutritional support, education, and consultation services designed to optimize aircrew health and performance. As a subject matter expert in operational dietetics, you will contribute significantly to the development and execution of performance nutrition curriculum, assessments, and program improvements. You will work closely with the Site Lead, Dietitian Lead (DL), and the interdisciplinary Human Performance (HP) team to ensure all efforts align with mission goals and CRAFT requirements.
You will serve as the subject matter expert in performance nutrition, providing both individualized and group-based dietary guidance tailored specifically to aircrew performance and resilience. A key aspect of this role involves maintaining a strong presence in operational settings; you will spend at least 20% of your duty hours in flying squadrons, flight rooms, or aircrew spaces to foster rapport and engagement.
Your work will include developing and delivering performance nutrition content for Human Performance syllabi and courseware, while participating in interdisciplinary meetings to ensure curriculum relevance. You will assess dietary habits and nutritional environments using validated tools and research to inform program delivery. Additionally, you will conduct educational briefings, seminars, and wellness consultations, delivering instruction using approved teaching methods and materials.
On the clinical side, you will perform nutritional assessments, review patient records, and document findings in the Medical Treatment Facility's (MTF) electronic health record system within 72 hours of consultation. You will also enter clinical and non-clinical encounters into the CRAFT system of record, ensuring documentation quality aligns with Department of Defense (DoD) guidance.
Collaboration is central to this role. You will coordinate program goals and feedback with local leadership, support social marketing efforts, and participate in quarterly domain-specific sync calls to support virtual and in-person efforts across CRAFT sites. You may also travel to provide direct support to other CRAFT sites, assist with aircrew temporary duty (TDY) assignments, or contribute to program expansion.
