The Affordable Housing Development Coordinator serves as a vital link in the development and preservation of affordable housing within MAAC's portfolio. Under the direction of the Project Manager, this role orchestrates the entire lifecycle of housing projects—from acquisition and due diligence through construction, occupancy, and cost certification.
This position is characterized by a high degree of initiative and creativity. You will not only coordinate complex project tasks but also lead the Real Estate Development (RED) team, including the recruitment, supervision, and training of volunteers. Your day will involve balancing rigorous compliance with local, state, and federal housing regulations while fostering strong relationships with sellers, property managers, consultants, and community stakeholders. A key part of your mission is ensuring cultural competence in every interaction, respecting the dignity of individuals and communities while navigating sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.

Knowledge of basic affordable housing funding regulations (TCAC, AHP, MHP, etc.) and accounting practices. Previous experience in government-funded projects or developments including the use of tax credits. Familiarity with public and private housing finance programs, tenant and operation subsidies, and program rules and regulations (CTCAC, HOME, CDBG, USDA, AHP). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with YARDI. Coursework or experience in technical writing.
