For more than 55 years, Family Health Centers of San Diego's (FHCSD) mission has been to provide caring, affordable, high-quality health care and supportive services to everyone, with a special commitment to uninsured, low-income, and medically underserved persons. As one of the top 10 largest federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) in the country, we operate more than 90 sites across San Diego County. Our network includes primary care clinics, behavioral health facilities, physical rehabilitation clinics, dental clinics, vision clinics, outpatient substance use treatment programs, mobile medical units, urgent care centers, and a pharmacy.
Our staff provides care to over 227,000 patients each year, 91% of whom are low-income and 29% are uninsured. We are the largest community clinic provider of health care to the uninsured in the county, the largest health care safety-net provider, the largest school-based health care provider, and the largest mental health provider in the San Diego region. We offer a comprehensive array of services including adult care, pediatrics, chronic disease management, obstetrics, dental, vision, case management, and specialty services like cardiology and dermatology.
This position serves as a vital clinical leader within our dental department, dedicated to delivering high-quality oral health care to our diverse patient population. You will provide comprehensive dental care, including root canal therapy, restorative procedures, and oral surgery, while ensuring all documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant with insurance requirements.
Beyond direct patient care, you will play a key role in shaping the department's clinical standards by participating in the development and review of dental treatment protocols, audit procedures, and quality assurance initiatives. A significant part of your day will involve instructing and clinically supervising dental hygienists, dental assistants, and other para-professional personnel, fostering a collaborative team environment that prioritizes cost-effective, efficient care. You will also consult with and refer patients to dental specialists and medical providers as necessary to ensure holistic patient outcomes.
We are committed to supporting our team members with a robust benefits package that includes a retirement plan with a 50% employer match, paid time off, extended sick leave, and comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Employees also enjoy wellness programs, employee discounts, and opportunities for annual raises and career growth.
