Dental Assistant

About the Role

Luke Staffing is seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant to support the Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCS) and associated Naval Branch Health Clinics. In this role, you will serve as a vital partner to dentists, facilitating complex restorative, prosthodontic, oral surgical, endodontic, and periodontal treatments. The position is designed for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic military healthcare environment where adaptability and precision are paramount.

Day in the Life

Your day will involve a blend of clinical support and patient care. You will assist the dentist chair-side, perform intra-oral procedures, and operate dental X-ray equipment to capture radiographs. Beyond clinical duties, you will manage patient scheduling, obtain medical histories, and chart examination details. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to sterilizing instruments, preparing surgical trays, and maintaining dental equipment to ensure a clean and operative condition. You will also take preliminary impressions, construct custom trays, and educate patients on post-treatment care and proper dental hygiene.

Work Environment

This role requires a high level of flexibility and the ability to reprioritize tasks on short notice. You will work within a deadline-intensive environment, collaborating with various personalities to ensure seamless clinic operations. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, between 0645 and 1545 hours, with no overtime, on-call, or callback requirements. Please note that during planned facility closures for training or holidays, compensation is based on actual hours worked, and employees may be required to use leave or take leave without pay if unable to work.
