At Banfield, part of Mars, Inc., we are dedicated to ensuring quality veterinary care for all pets. Our mission is to advocate for pets, educate clients on all aspects of pet health, and maintain a safe, effective hospital environment. We live by the Five Principles of Mars: Quality, Responsibility, Mutuality, Efficiency, and Freedom. These values guide our commitment to the consumer, our responsibility to one another, and our drive to use resources wisely to shape a free future.
As a Veterinary Assistant, you will be the vital support system for veterinarians and veterinary technicians, acting as their extra eyes, ears, and hands to maximize productivity and ensure the highest quality of care. Your day will involve a dynamic mix of clinical and client-facing duties. You will prepare for procedures, monitor hospitalized or surgical pets, and assist with surgeries as applicable, all while adhering to state practice acts and NAVTA guidelines.
Beyond the clinical tasks, you will be a key educator for our clients, explaining Optimum Wellness Plans, preventive care, and hospital services. You will manage medical charts, obtain patient histories, and ensure the safety and comfort of both pets and people by maintaining sterile, organized treatment areas. This role requires you to mentor paraprofessionals, solve problems on the fly, and maintain a positive, resilient demeanor in a moderately high-noise environment. You will work with a diverse range of animals, including dogs, cats, birds, and reptiles, often requiring flexibility to meet client needs with hours that may include weekends and evenings.
If you are a current associate, please apply through our internal career site by logging into Workday and navigating to the Jobs Hub app or searching for "Browse Jobs." For external candidates, please submit your application through our standard career portal. We look for individuals who demonstrate initiative, integrity, and a genuine passion for animal welfare.
Banfield is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status. We believe that a diverse team creates better outcomes for our pets and their families.
