The Veterinary Assistant is a vital partner to veterinarians and veterinary technicians, dedicated to ensuring high-quality care for every pet. This role goes beyond clinical tasks; it is about advocating for animals, educating clients on comprehensive pet health, and maintaining a safe, efficient, and welcoming hospital environment. As the "extra eyes, ears, and hands" of the clinical team, you will help maximize productivity while ensuring the flow of patients remains smooth and stress-free.
You will serve as the first point of contact for many clients, providing professional and exceptional service. Your day will involve preparing for procedures, monitoring hospitalized pets, and educating owners on preventive care and Optimum Wellness Plans. By maintaining clean, sterile treatment areas and utilizing safe restraining techniques, you ensure the safety of pets, clients, and associates. You will also have the opportunity to mentor other paraprofessionals and contribute to the continuous improvement of hospital processes.

This position requires a high level of adaptability and physical capability. You will work in a moderately high-noise environment and may be exposed to a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, birds, and reptiles. The role involves routine exposure to potential hazards such as bites, scratches, anesthesia, radiation, and biological hazards. The schedule often requires flexibility, including weekends and evenings, and may exceed 40 hours per week depending on client needs and hospital volume. Physical duties include standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
