The Data Center Global Controls team is part of AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS), the group responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We are the people who keep the cloud running, supporting every data center and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Our mission is to manage the design, deployment, and service of highly reliable electrical and mechanical control systems throughout the lifecycle of an AWS data center.
You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. We work on the most challenging problems, often with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we welcome talented people who want to help solve them. Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results, fostering an environment where bold ideas are welcomed and ownership is encouraged.
As a Controls Technician for Service & Construction, you will be a key contributor to the Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) within Amazon data centers. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about customer experience, think and act globally, and are eager to contribute to major innovations in building controls and automation.
You will be responsible for the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and startup of equipment and control systems associated with BMS and EPMS deployments. Your work will involve actively innovating on behalf of our customers in the area of data center building automation. You will deploy, service, and upgrade these systems across multiple data centers, mentor facilities team members, and manage small to medium-sized projects. Additionally, you will supervise low-voltage electrical contractors to ensure compliance with AWS requirements and perform root cause analysis during testing and commissioning.
A typical day begins with attending morning construction or commissioning meetings to assess and prioritize project tasks and service tickets. Your day will involve significant field work, including configuring controllers, testing sensors, troubleshooting issues, conducting safety site walks, and supporting general startup processes. You will also be responsible for logging your daily efforts in construction and service-related AWS tools, auditing enterprise asset management systems, and managing service agreements with vendors.
Amazon is committed to finding the best talent. We encourage candidates to apply even if their career path hasn't followed a traditional route or if they do not meet every single preferred qualification. We value diverse experiences and believe that alternative backgrounds can bring unique perspectives to our team.
