The Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense - Science and Technology (DASD-S&T) Futures and Foundations Office is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented data analyst to support day-to-day operations. DASD-S&T is responsible for the policy and operation of defense laboratories and engineering centers. As a member of the DASD-S&T team, you will be on the cutting edge where policy, science, and data analytics intersect.
This is a temporary position expected to run from August 14, 2026, through November 16, 2026, with the potential for extension based on organizational needs. While this role allows for remote work, candidates must reside in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area.
In this capacity, you will conduct data analyses on the performance of laboratory personnel systems, STEM outreach programs, technology transfer, infrastructure, and federally funded research and development centers (FFRDCs). Your work will gauge effectiveness and deficiencies to inform critical policy decisions. You will respond to client requests or proactively identify data needs, determining the most suitable systems for acquiring information. The role involves processing data using big data platforms and visualization tools to ensure accuracy and relevance, conducting quality assurance procedures, and developing visual representations to convey meaningful insights. Additionally, you will utilize existing databases to fulfill requests efficiently and offer suggestions for refining data collection methods to enhance precision.
