Data Center Planning and Delivery (DCPD) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We are the team that keeps the cloud running, supporting the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We tackle the most challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, working alongside a diverse network of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers.
Our culture is inclusive, welcoming bold ideas and empowering team members to own them to completion. We value curiosity and connection, fostering stronger, more collaborative teams through employee-led affinity groups and inclusion events. As we strive to become Earth's Best Employer, we provide endless opportunities for knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and career advancement to help you develop into a better-rounded professional.
This field-based Construction Safety Manager role supports AWS Data Center Planning and Delivery programs, bridging the gap between strategic safety frameworks and on-the-ground execution. You will partner with internal DCPD teams—including Real Estate, Due Diligence, Permitting, Construction, and Procurement—to achieve health and safety goals and elevate our safety culture. Externally, you will engage with General Contractors and AWS Suppliers to clarify business expectations and drive continuous improvement in contracted services.
A day in your life will be spent at field construction and retrofit projects, where you will integrate with a global network of H&S professionals. You will use data and anecdotes to tactically drive internal customers to manage risks, serving as an escalation path for issue resolution. Your role requires applying knowledge of jurisdictional requirements, regional best practices, and cultural norms to improve DCPD activities. You will not only identify improvement opportunities but also develop DCPD competencies to enable the business to own these solutions.
Success in this role demands diplomacy, patience, and tact to earn trust while effectively advising, instructing, and challenging teams. You will be an effective communicator, delivering clear and consistent messages in verbal, written, and public speaking forums. You will deploy mechanisms to manage H&S, ensuring projects operate to jurisdictional requirements and AWS Safety Management Program standards.
We encourage candidates to apply even if you do not meet all preferred qualifications. AWS values diverse experiences, including those who have not followed a traditional career path or are just starting out. If your career includes alternative experiences, don't let that stop you from applying.
