Customer Service and Sales Associates serve as the frontline of our retail experience, dedicated to delivering fast, friendly service by actively engaging with customers to assess their needs. The role is designed to empower associates to become product experts, utilizing our internal tools to provide comprehensive information that helps customers complete entire projects.
Associates in this position will master the full sales cycle: greeting customers, qualifying their needs, making tailored recommendations, and closing sales within their specific department. Beyond their primary area, they are expected to handle basic inquiries in adjacent departments to ensure a seamless customer journey. The role also involves maintaining the in-stock condition of assigned areas, ensuring they remain clean, shop-able, and safe.
Collaboration is key; associates work closely with Department Supervisors and peers across various departments, including Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, and Tool Rental. Depending on the specific store needs, the position may focus on Department Sales, Lead Generation, Pro Account Sales, Special Services, or Customer Order Specialist duties.
A core responsibility of this role is fostering a safe working and shopping environment. Associates are expected to follow all safety policies and standards, complete specified safety training, and immediately correct or report hazards and unsafe conditions to the Manager on Duty. This commitment ensures the well-being of themselves, co-workers, vendors, and customers.
