This is a Floating School Custodian position covering Denfeld High School, Lincoln Park Middle School, and surrounding elementary schools. As a Second Shift Floater, you will be housed at the Facilities Management site and assigned to different schools on a day-to-day basis. Your primary mission is to care for and maintain school facilities and district properties through general maintenance, cleaning tasks, and the operation of various cleaning equipment.
In addition to routine cleaning, you will assist school custodians with equipment usage and follow up on task assignments directed by the Building Engineer or Facilities Management Supervisor. This role involves monitoring evening activities, assisting in the conduct of students and adults in and around the building, and coordinating with principals, activity directors, and site managers regarding setups and occupancy needs. You will also be responsible for identifying heating and ventilation issues, responding to emergency situations and equipment failures, and clearing the building of occupants while arming security systems after perimeter checks. Knowledge of building access control systems is required to create and remove override entries.
Internal Maintenance Employees (permanent contract employees) will be considered first, followed by external candidates including substitutes and hourly employees.
