About the Role
As a Custodian at Magill Elementary, you play a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary learning environment for students and staff. You will be an integral part of the Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Custodial Care Program, ensuring that school facilities remain orderly and welcoming.
Your day involves performing assigned cleaning and custodial care tasks according to a schedule provided by your supervisor. You will utilize approved chemicals, supplies, and equipment to maintain assigned areas, while ensuring all tools and machinery are kept in safe, working condition. Beyond routine cleaning, you may be asked to open and secure facility grounds and suggest improvements to cleaning practices or equipment to enhance efficiency.
Success in this role requires the ability to work effectively as part of a custodial team, maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and school staff. You must be able to follow both oral and written instructions in English, including safety protocols and product usage guidelines.
Hiring Process
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or equivalent. A valid Georgia Class C Driver's License and prior industrial or commercial cleaning experience are preferred. Applicants should demonstrate a willingness to learn and proficiency in performing custodial care skills specific to the GCPS program.
