The Custodian is an essential personnel position dedicated to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across Dillard University's campus. From academic buildings and administrative offices to residence halls and public spaces, this role ensures that facilities reflect the highest standards of care, cleanliness, and pride. By upholding these standards, the Custodian directly supports the University's mission as the Jewel of Gentilly.
This position involves a dynamic mix of detailed cleaning and facility support. Daily tasks include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing high-touch surfaces like doorknobs, light switches, and elevator buttons to maintain rigorous hygiene. The Custodian will service restrooms, wash walls and windows, and clean carpets and upholstered furniture. Beyond routine cleaning, the role includes operating mechanized equipment, performing minor maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, and assisting with the setup and breakdown of event spaces. Flexibility is key, as the role may require evening, weekend, and emergency assignments, including storm preparation and inclement weather duties.
