The Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS) provides a fully accredited educational program for school-age youth who are wards of the court or referred by social services, probation, or school districts in San Diego County. We serve incarcerated youth, pregnant minors, foster youth, expelled teens, chronically truant youth, students in drug treatment centers, group homes for neglected or abused children, and homeless youth.

About the Role

This position supports the Career Technical Education (CTE) sector, encompassing four distinct career pathways designed to prepare students for technical training, postsecondary education, and entry into the workforce. The role involves facilitating programs in:

• Building and Construction Trades: Covering Cabinetry, Millwork, and Woodworking; Engineering and Heavy Construction; Mechanical Systems Installation and Repair; and Residential and Commercial Construction.
• Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation: Specifically focusing on Culinary Arts and Barista Training to prepare students for the dynamic food and beverage industry.
• Food Service and Hospitality: Teaching the scientific principles of nutrition, food production, preparation, service, and the management of food establishments.
• Agriculture and Natural Resources: Providing a foundation in agriculture through seven pathways, including Agricultural Business, Mechanics, Agriscience, Animal Science, Forestry, Horticulture, and Plant and Soil Science.

Depending on the specific assignment, the role operates at various locations including the Youth Transition Campus (YTC), Innovations in Vista, CA, 37ECB, and San Pascual Academy, with hours ranging from 15 to 20 per week.

If you do not currently hold a valid California CTE credential in the appropriate field, we will process the necessary documents to obtain a Designated Subject CTE Credential and the application for the Designated Subjects Consortium Credential Program.

Pre-Employment Requirements: In addition to pre-employment paperwork, applicants must have fingerprints conducted through Livescan service if they do not already have cleared fingerprints through the San Diego County Fingerprint Clearinghouse. A fee of $77 applies for out-of-pocket clearinghouse services. All required California Credentials must be confirmed prior to employment.
