The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), headquartered in Richmond, serves approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers and ID card holders, along with over 8.4 million registered vehicles. The agency supports a wide range of businesses, including dealers, fuel tax customers, rental companies, driving schools, and various government and non-profit organizations. The DMV operates on five fundamental core values: Trustworthiness, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, and Teamwork (TRAIT). These values are not just stated; they are lived daily by the team.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager to lead one of our Customer Service Centers (CSC) located in Suffolk, Virginia. As the CSC Manager, you will provide comprehensive operational oversight, resource management, strategic planning, and team leadership. This role is pivotal in aligning the service center's operations with the DMV's mission and performance goals. You will drive customer service excellence, manage human resources, finances, facilities, and security, and supervise a large, diverse staff. Your day-to-day involves analyzing operational data to identify improvements, ensuring quality control in customer transactions, and resolving escalated issues with professionalism and timeliness. You will foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement while ensuring strict compliance with all statutory requirements and agency procedures.
To apply, you must submit an online application; the DMV does not accept applications, resumes, or cover letters in any other format. Ensure your online application or resume is complete with duties and skills associated with your work experience to allow for proper assessment. Missing information cannot be assumed during the screening process. Upon submission, you will receive a confirmation of receipt. You can check the status of your application by referring to "Your Application" in your account.
Selected candidates must complete the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form, as the DMV participates in E-Verify. As a condition of employment, all applicants must consent to a background check, including a fingerprint-based criminal history check, driver record check, and background investigation. Selected candidates will also be alerted of any convictions for moving violations, including license suspension.
In support of the Commonwealth's commitment to inclusion, the DMV encourages individuals with disabilities to apply through the Commonwealth Alternative Hiring Process (AHP). To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must provide their AHP Letter (formerly COD) provided by the Department for Aging & Rehabilitative Services (DARS) or the Department for the Blind & Vision Impaired (DBVI). Service-Connected Veterans are encouraged to answer Veteran status questions and submit disability documentation to DARS/DBVI to obtain their AHP Letter. Applicants who received a Certificate of Disability from DARS or DBVI dated between April 1, 2022, and February 29, 2024, may still use that COD as applicable documentation for the Alternative Hiring Process.
