About the Role
Join an exciting Physician Assistant position within our critical care team, where you will play a vital role in managing high-acuity adult patients in a multidisciplinary setting. The ICU team collaborates with various consulting specialists to provide comprehensive critical care for patients transferred from other floors or hospitals, or admitted directly from the Emergency Department (ED) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
You will work closely with critical care intensivists, ICU hospitalists, residents, fellows, and fellow PAs to deliver direct patient care. Your day-to-day will involve performing physical exams, collecting and documenting data, executing approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and ordering laboratory studies and consultations. You will oversee patient care to ensure best practices are met, managing complex conditions ranging from sepsis and respiratory failure to neurological emergencies and intra-abdominal surgeries.
This position offers rotating shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, with nights-only options also available. It is designed as a great entry-to-practice role for new PAs, welcoming those who are highly motivated and driven to understand the rigors of critical care training.
Training & Development
The Critical Care Service line provides a robust 6-month postgraduate training program tailored to ensure new hires receive the best and most comprehensive education. This curriculum includes ICU Procedural Competency, didactic courses, required self-study, and online modules. Dedicated training covers the use of ultrasound and essential procedures, such as ultrasound-guided IVs, central line insertions, and airway modalities.
Clinical training may occur across multiple sites within our service line to broaden your experience. We seek candidates who recognize the necessity of ongoing study and are prepared for the continuous learning this position requires.
