University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH) is seeking compassionate and skilled Registered Nurses to join our dynamic Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) teams. We are currently hiring across all PACU departments, including our specialized Pediatric Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, where we provide exceptional care to infants, children, and adolescents. Our team operates in a fast-paced, supportive environment dedicated to the safe recovery of patients following surgery and anesthesia.
As a PACU RN at UNMH, you will play a critical role in the perioperative journey, providing expert care before and after surgery. In the pre-op phase, you will perform assessments, start IVs, ease patient anxiety, and ensure seamless surgical coordination. Postoperatively, you will monitor patients across a wide range of acuity—from outpatient to ICU-level care—including pediatric, adult, obstetric, and cardiac cases.
In our Pediatric PACU specifically, you will utilize your expertise in pediatric assessment, pain management, airway management, and family-centered care to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young patients and their families during a vulnerable time. As a clinical leader and patient advocate, you will work alongside an interdisciplinary team to directly impact recovery, safety, and comfort. This 12-hour shift position offers a rewarding blend of clinical challenge and the opportunity to grow your critical care skills.
We have immediate openings and are looking for dedicated professionals to join us. If you are interested, please apply directly. Upon submission, a hiring manager will contact you within 48 hours to discuss your interests and potential placement within our various units.
We offer a competitive compensation package designed to support our staff, including a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance. Our shift differential structure rewards flexibility with 17% for weekday nights, 26% for weekend nights, and 15% for weekend day shifts. We foster a positive work environment where staff serve as role models, promote quality patient care, and are encouraged to participate in professional development through educational programs and workshops.

We particularly encourage applications from bilingual candidates, including those fluent in English/Spanish or local indigenous languages such as Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo.
