The Registered Nurse serves as a vital member of the clinical team, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual patient care on the nursing unit. This role operates under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or Clinical Coordinator and provides essential supervision to non-RN personnel. When assuming the charge role, the nurse delegates and supervises unit activities to ensure high-level service and smooth operations.
This position is specifically focused on the care of neuro patients. The role requires demonstrating specialized skill and knowledge in neuro assessment, airway management, caring for tracheostomy patients, and assisting physicians during special neuro procedures. Nurses in this role also manage patients on ventilators and those in halo braces, ensuring competency in these critical areas.
Candidates must possess a valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License and BLS certification. A minimum of one year of acute nursing experience is required; critical care or emergency experience is preferred. Applicants should be graduates of an accredited school of nursing with proficiency in electronic patient records and internet literature searches.
