This position serves as a supervisory-level technical lead within the City of Alexandria's Wastewater Department Collection system. The primary mission is to ensure the operational integrity of the city's wastewater infrastructure through construction, repair, and maintenance activities. As a key member of the team, you will manage assigned shifts, oversee crews, and respond to emergency calls during inclement weather or critical system failures.
You will organize and supervise daily operations, assigning projects and developing plans for the completion of complex work. Your day-to-day involves inspecting completed work, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues on pumps and sewer lines, and utilizing specialized equipment such as CCTV push cameras and heavy machinery. Beyond technical execution, you will act as a mentor to your crew, evaluating work processes, resolving employee problems, and serving as a point of contact for difficult customer complaints.
