As an Interceptor Operator, you will play a critical role in protecting the environment by ensuring the routine operation, preventative maintenance, and emergency repair of the regional wastewater collection systems and pumping stations. You will be part of a hard-working team capable of managing independent tasks while collaborating effectively with others.
Your day-to-day work involves a dynamic mix of physical labor and technical operations. You will work in all types of outdoor conditions, often performing duties such as climbing into wastewater structures, checking for obstructions, and dealing with challenging environments. You will operate specialized equipment like jet/vac trucks, CCTV systems, and skid loaders to inspect and rehabilitate the system. Beyond technical operations, you will serve as a representative of MCES, interacting with the public to address odor complaints and emergencies with courtesy and professionalism.

Completion of a wastewater treatment or relevant vocational/technical degree or certification (WETT/WUTT) program. Wastewater collections system experience in water and/or sewer, vactor operation, general lift station operation, sanitary sewer CCTV (closed circuit televising), or Gopher State One Call locating. NASSCO Pipeline Assessment Certificate Program (PACP) certification. Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Experience interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Multi-lingual.
