About the Agency

The Colorado Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is dedicated to managing and conserving the state's natural resources for the benefit of people today and tomorrow. Our mission is to balance development with conservation, ensuring that the state we love provides similar opportunities for future generations.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), a division of the DNR, operates with a specific mission: to perpetuate wildlife resources, provide a quality state parks system, and offer enjoyable, sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities. We strive to educate and inspire current and future generations to become active stewards of Colorado's natural resources.

The State of Colorado believes that equity, diversity, and inclusion drive our success. We encourage candidates from all identities, backgrounds, and abilities to apply.

About the Role

This position serves as a vital administrative hub for the Northeast Region, specifically supporting Area 1 and Area 5. You will be the first point of contact for the public, agencies, and customers, providing essential clerical support to Area Wildlife Managers and Assistant Managers.

Your day will involve a dynamic blend of customer service, office management, and financial administration. You will manage the front desk, selling licenses, and answering technical questions regarding parks, hunting, and fishing. You will also assist law enforcement by interpreting calls, resolving human-wildlife conflicts, and coordinating hunter education classes.

Beyond the front desk, you will maintain office procedures, manage budgets for two work units, process vendor payments, and handle game damage claims. You will ensure the availability of program materials, track calendars for regional staff, and support field staff through communication and logistical coordination. This role is critical to executing the agency's strategic plan by providing high-quality customer service and administrative efficiency in the Northeast region.

Hiring Process

All applications are reviewed by an HR Specialist against the minimum qualifications. Colorado Revised Statutes require that state employees be hired based on merit and fitness through a comparative analysis process. This includes a structured application review by Subject Matter Experts.

Application Instructions:

  • Residency Requirement: This posting is open only to residents of the State of Colorado at the time of submitting your application.
  • Required Attachments: Resumes and cover letters are considered part of the initial review. Please ensure both are attached to your application.
  • Supplemental Questions: Thoroughly answer all supplemental questions included in the application.

Appeal Rights:

If you receive notice that you have been eliminated from consideration, you may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board or request a review by the State Personnel Director. Appeals must be submitted on the official form within ten (10) calendar days of receiving notice.

Equal Opportunity

The State of Colorado is an equal opportunity employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, identity, or ability. We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
