About the Role

The Counsel serves as a senior member of the Senator's team, acting as the office's primary legal expert and point person for specific legislative matters. Your day-to-day involves advising on rules and budgetary matters, analyzing existing and proposed legislation, and drafting amendments. You will also staff the Senator during formal Senate sessions, brief them on key issues prior to meetings and caucuses, and convene stakeholders to persuade them regarding legislative priorities. This role requires a dynamic professional capable of working independently and as part of a team under pressure, often maintaining a flexible schedule that may include extended hours, nights, and weekends.
