The Vice President, Insurance Defense Counsel serves as a strategic partner to senior leadership, Risk, Operations, and Finance. This executive role is designed to drive litigation strategy, insurer coordination, and enterprise risk mitigation across a highly regulated, operationally complex environment. You will lead and oversee a nationwide portfolio of complex insurance defense and commercial liability matters arising from the Company's transportation operations.
As a seasoned litigation strategist, you will bring deep insurance defense experience and the executive presence necessary to influence business decision-making at the enterprise level. Your day-to-day involves managing a national docket of high-exposure matters, from pre-suit investigation through trial and appeal, while providing clear, business-oriented recommendations to executive leadership and insurers. You will act as the senior legal liaison to insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators, analyzing coverage issues and partnering with cross-functional teams to reduce claims frequency and severity.
Beyond case management, this role requires you to provide practical, business-focused legal guidance to Operations and Safety leadership regarding litigation exposure and claims prevention. You will support significant incident responses, develop litigation training for field and corporate leadership, and identify systemic risk trends to recommend proactive policy adjustments.
