We are seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to lead cost accounting activities and strengthen financial visibility for manufacturing operations in Reading, Pennsylvania. This role serves as a strategic partner to operations, engineering, and commercial teams, driving improvements in inventory accuracy and delivering reliable reporting on product and plant performance. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in standard cost accounting, variance analysis, and manufacturing finance, with the ability to guide a team and drive continuous improvement.
In this position, you will direct the day-to-day work of the cost accounting function, ensuring financial data is maintained accurately across manufacturing operations. You will oversee inventory accounting activities, including reserve assessments for excess and obsolete stock, while promoting strong controls and record accuracy. By partnering with site leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, you will review manufacturing budgets, evaluate spending trends, and support cost-efficient operations. Your work will involve developing and presenting regular financial reports covering product costs, operational variances, and profitability trends for management review.
You will analyze cost drivers to recommend practical actions that improve margins, reduce waste, and strengthen overall financial performance. The role requires maintaining and enhancing cost accounting processes, systems, and reporting methods to support accurate and timely financial results. You will lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities related to cost accounting, ensuring deadlines are met and balances are well supported. Additionally, you will coach and support cost accounting team members by providing guidance, training, and oversight to build capability and consistency, while working with external auditors to address requests and uphold adherence to financial regulations and reporting standards.
