The Division of Youth Services (DYS) is the agency statutorily mandated to provide care and supervision for youth committed by the District Court to the custody of the Colorado Department of Human Services. Operating fifteen secure facilities across the state, DYS serves youth between the ages of 10 and 21 who are pre-adjudicated, sentenced, or committed. The Division provides a continuum of residential and non-residential services, including juvenile detention, commitment, parole, and the management of the Colorado Youth Detention Continuum for youth at risk of further progression into the juvenile justice system.
DYS is dedicated to integrating goals of trauma responsiveness and the Sanctuary Model into all aspects of youth care. The Division also contracts with numerous private residential and non-residential service providers throughout Colorado to support youth, families, and local communities.
This position serves as a first-line formal supervisory role within the Division of Youth Services, specifically at the Campus at Mount View. The primary mission of this role is to oversee and provide direct supervision for Youth Services Specialists, ensuring the safe, secure, and trauma-responsive care of youth in a locked setting.
As a member of the Youth Center Leadership Team, you will be responsible for integrating the Division's Strategic Plan and programmatic initiatives into daily operations. Your day-to-day involves managing staff scheduling, juvenile movement, admissions and releases, and overseeing all aspects of daily programming, recreation, meals, and medical referrals. You will act as a mentor and coach, utilizing the Reflective Supervision model to guide staff in their daily tasks, crisis intervention, and behavior management.
You will also serve as the first public contact for the agency when necessary and act as the Facility Supervisor in the absence of the Director and Assistant Director. This role requires modeling the Sanctuary 7 Commitments and ensuring that all staff adhere to DYS policies, QAYS compliance standards, and federal safety protocols, including PREA and Restorative Community Justice principles.
This position is open only to Colorado state residents. Applicants are required to read the entire job announcement and follow all instructions prior to submitting an application.
