This position provides essential technical support to the operations of patient care services. The role focuses on ensuring adequate nursing staff coverage across all shifts by managing complex scheduling, staffing logistics, and report development. You will play a key part in special projects related to staffing and scheduling, helping the hospital maintain optimal care levels despite variable census conditions.
Your day involves preparing and maintaining staffing schedules that align with hospital needs and fluctuating patient volumes. You will refer to established unit staffing patterns to determine minimum requirements for each nursing classification and work status, ensuring 24-hour coverage. Working in cooperation with the Nursing Director or Manager, you will assist in daily unit staffing by assigning personnel, calling replacements, and communicating critical staffing issues, including projecting weekend needs.
You will also be responsible for scheduling and posting calendars for float and per diem nursing personnel, entering changes to current and future schedules promptly, and assisting in the accurate recording of payroll data. Additionally, you will help develop and implement projects for patient care services while maintaining current personnel phone lists and utilizing the established nursing staffing system.
Candidates with experience in the healthcare field, particularly in a hospital setting, are encouraged to apply. The role requires excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills, along with multi-line telephone proficiency. Familiarity with technical and analytical functions and computer applications is preferred.
