This position is based at The Resort at Kapalua Bay in Maui, Hawaii. As a member of our Food and Beverage & Culinary team, you will play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of our kitchen operations. Your day will involve preparing ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food, as well as washing and peeling fresh fruits and vegetables.
You will be responsible for weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, then preparing and cooking food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklists. This includes preparing cold foods and operating various kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. You will test foods to ensure they are cooked sufficiently and monitor food quality throughout the preparation process.
Beyond food preparation, you will set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and ensure the kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment are washed and disinfected. You will also check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food. Throughout your shift, you will maintain a clean and professional appearance, adhere to safety and security policies, and foster positive working relationships with your team to reach common goals.
