The Cook in the Dietary Department is a vital part of the hospital's nutrition services, responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to patients, employees, and visitors three times daily. This role ensures that food is served at proper temperatures and that special dietary needs are met with care and precision.
The position involves a collaborative effort with the entire hospital staff, medical teams, and visitors. As a Cook, you will supervise dietary aides and the salad position, guiding them in the correct preparation and serving of salads, desserts, and snacks. You will also assist with dishwashing, storage, and general cleaning duties to maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen environment.
This role offers two distinct shifts to ensure continuous coverage:
While previous experience is preferred, it is not required for this position. Candidates should be capable of operating large kitchen equipment, including ovens, steamers, tilt-fry pans, microwaves, and slicers. A High School diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
We value clear communication and professionalism. Cooks are expected to maintain appropriate uniforms and nametags, adhering to safety standards such as limiting jewelry and avoiding nail polish. The role includes participation in annual in-services and the opportunity to train new staff members.
