About the Role
The Controls Service Technician II is a pivotal role responsible for the successful start-up, checkout, and troubleshooting of installed systems and service agreements. You will be the technical expert ensuring that complex building automation systems function as designed, bridging the gap between new construction and existing retrofit sites.
In this position, you will handle emergency calls and service tasks as directed, working with minimal guidance to commission new HVAC DDC BACnet/IP control systems. Your day-to-day involves capturing all necessary documentation for system functionality, including product licensing, firmware updates, and database configurations. You will collaborate with team members to develop technical solutions, migrate systems from P2 to BACnet, and ensure hardware and software integrations meet expected performance standards.
Beyond technical execution, you are the face of BCS at the customer site. You will build and maintain relationships by responding to service calls, analyzing system requirements, and leaving every site with documented suggestions for repairs and improvements. You will also provide technical assistance and training to end-users and teammates, ensuring that customer expectations are met with professionalism and timeliness.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circlePerform controls system inspections, service, and troubleshooting for HVAC and building automation systems

- check_circleMaintain technical knowledge through continuing education and communicate product updates to field technicians
- check_circleRecognize safety hazards and adhere to safety rules and regulations outlined in the company safety manual

- check_circleLoad programs, update firmware, configure IP addresses, and apply labels to enable functioning control systems
- check_circleRespond to emergency service calls, analyze system requirements, and resolve customer issues professionally
- check_circleComplete written work order notes and obtain customer signatures prior to leaving service sites
- check_circleSetup, configure, calibrate, and troubleshoot controls equipment and assist in automation system startups
- check_circleTroubleshoot network, software, and hosted-system malfunctions to ensure operational stability
- check_circleTest hardware and software to verify I/O levels, alarm messaging, and system integrations
- check_circleDocument progress, update point checkout sheets, and revise submittals or as-builts upon project completion
Requirements
- verifiedAssociate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school
- verified6+ years experience in installing or servicing electronic control systems preferred
- verifiedMinimum two years of experience in a mechanical capacity
- verifiedMinimum two years of experience in systems including on-the-job experience as a systems/mechanical specialist
- verifiedValid driver license
- verifiedLegally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
- verifiedMicrosoft, Cisco, EIT, ASHRE, NICET, or CISSP certifications are a plus
Nice to Have
6+ years of experience in installing or servicing electronic control systems. Certifications in Microsoft, Cisco, EIT, ASHRAE, NICET, or CISSP. Technical school certificates.
