About the Role
The H&K Group, Inc. is looking for a Cost Engineer to support projects with cost reporting and purchasing. The ideal candidate is good with people, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and flexible. This role serves as a vital link between field operations and project management, ensuring financial accuracy and operational efficiency on heavy civil construction sites.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleReview timesheets, material receipts, and subcontractor invoices for completeness
- check_circleCompute and review total job cost applied to site work jobs daily
- check_circleCalculate profit and loss at both cost level and per unit
- check_circleLocate errors in Purchase Order system while verifying invoices
- check_circleReceipt and index all packing slips for assigned divisions
- check_circleTrack purchases, costs, prices, and inventory using various software
- check_circleCreate purchase orders for materials ordered from field personnel
- check_circleCommunicate with Foremen and Project Managers to discuss costs and changes
Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university OR one year of related experience
- verifiedWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- verifiedAbility to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE
- verifiedOSHA or other relevant safety certifications preferred
- verified2 years of relevant experience preferred
- verifiedWorking knowledge of Explorer software and HCSS products preferred
- verifiedExperience with cost reporting and purchasing for heavy civil construction preferred
Nice to Have
2 years of relevant experience and/or training. Working knowledge of Explorer software and HCSS products (Heavyjob, E360). Experience with cost reporting and purchasing for heavy civil construction. OSHA or other relevant safety certifications.
