About the Role

We are seeking a Controller to lead the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization. This role serves as a critical foundation for Bethesda, ensuring financial accuracy, strengthening internal systems, and providing clear, reliable financial information to support wise decision-making.

The Controller will oversee core accounting functions, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting. The right leader will bring structure, discipline, and consistency to financial operations while working collaboratively across the organization. You will be a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys building processes, improving systems, and leading a small team with clarity and accountability.

  • check_circleOversee day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • check_circlePrepare accurate monthly financial statements within 7 business days of month-end close
  • check_circleMaintain financial records with 100% accuracy and ensure compliance with internal controls
  • check_circleLead the annual audit process and maintain audit readiness throughout the year
  • check_circleTrack departmental spending to enable reliable budget monitoring and decision-making
  • check_circleManage payroll processing and ensure accurate financial reporting
  • check_circleManage and lead a high-performing accounting team to achieve quarterly goals

Requirements

  • verifiedBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • verifiedCPA certification preferred
  • verified5–7 years of progressive accounting experience
  • verifiedStrong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • verifiedExperience managing accounting operations including payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • verifiedProficiency in accounting systems and financial reporting tools
  • verifiedDemonstrated leadership ability and experience managing accounting staff
