This position serves as a Construction (QA) Inspector based on Shemya Island, Alaska. The role is critical to ensuring that airfield runway construction improvements and pavement resurfacing projects adhere strictly to contract requirements, project plans, and specifications. You will act as the primary point of verification for workmanship, managing a three-phase inspection system to maintain the highest standards of quality and safety.
The position involves a dynamic day-to-day rhythm of on-site monitoring, documentation, and collaboration. You will review contractor progress, analyze submittals, and verify the accuracy of as-built drawings and payment requests. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to maintaining detailed daily QA reports, tracking project schedules, and assisting with Requests for Information (RFI) and change orders. You will also play a key role in the final stages of the project by participating in pre-final and final inspections, preparing detailed punch lists, and ensuring all items are corrected before final payment is released.
Please note that Quality Assurance Representatives (QARs) in this role may work in remote locations where extreme environmental conditions are common, including seasoned heat or cold. Success in this position requires the ability to maintain professional presentation and excellent communication skills while interacting with clients and contractors in these challenging settings.
