AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We are the people who keep the cloud running, supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Within AWS Networking, the Network Product Development (NPD) organization is responsible for designing the network fiber connectivity and owning the implementation plans that power the global AWS network. Beyond product delivery, we actively manage the fiber infrastructure in a network that grows by 70% annually, tracking key business and operational metrics to ensure smooth operations and minimize customer impact.
You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we welcome bold ideas in an inclusive culture that empowers you to own them to completion.
As an engineer on our team, you have the unique opportunity to understand the growing AWS network and our internal customers' requirements on interconnect solutions. You will work backwards to devise fiber connectivity solutions by influencing the broad industry or developing software tools with sister teams to maintain a highly available network that delights AWS customers. Your work will bridge design, construction, and operations, ensuring that every layer of physical networking from fiber trunks to copper patching meets high standards of performance, reliability, and scalability.
You will collaborate with vendors and manufacturers to develop and evaluate new Fiber Optic solutions, design structured cabling systems for hyperscale data centers, and manage fiber vendors and contractors. By focusing on ambiguous problem areas in existing or new network architecture, you will propose and deliver projects that have a significant business and customer impact. Your efforts will help raise the bar on operational excellence, building mechanisms to remediate large-scale events and improve the health of our links.
