The Cabling Engineer serves as a critical technical resource within a mission-critical hospital environment, ensuring the physical integrity of the network infrastructure that supports patient care and clinical operations. This onsite contract role focuses on the installation, termination, and certification of structured cabling systems, including CAT6/CAT6A copper and fiber optic networks. The position is essential for maintaining the reliability of LAN, WiFi, voice, CCTV, access control, and specialized medical device connections across wards, clinics, labs, and operating theaters.
You will work directly with network, desktop, biomedical, and facilities teams to execute deployments and upgrades while adhering to strict hospital safety and infection control standards. Your day involves performing cable testing, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and managing remediation efforts within defined SLAs. A significant portion of the role requires maintaining accurate as-built documentation, including labeling, port mapping, and rack layouts, to ensure the facility's infrastructure remains up-to-date and compliant.
This role demands the ability to thrive in a 24x7, live hospital setting where patient safety and operational continuity are paramount. Success requires a deep understanding of low-voltage systems and the discipline to work within complex change management processes. Experience in healthcare environments is highly valued, as it ensures familiarity with the unique constraints and safety protocols of clinical operations.
