About the Role

WR Systems is seeking a Component Level Repair Technician to support critical projects in Norfolk, VA. In this position, you will be the frontline expert for troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and maintaining electronic equipment and systems at the component level. Your work ensures that complex electronic units meet rigorous quality standards and are ready for deployment.

You will collaborate closely with Electronics Engineers to resolve technical challenges, clarify design details, and optimize functional criteria. The role involves a hands-on approach to populating printed circuit boards with through-hole and SMT components, performing qualification and acceptance testing using automated systems, and evaluating system performance under actual operating conditions. You will also recommend circuitry changes to simplify assembly and maintenance, ensuring efficiency and reliability in our production and integration workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • check_circleTroubleshoot and repair electronic equipment to the component level
  • check_circlePerform qualification and acceptance testing using automated test equipment
  • check_circlePopulate printed circuit boards with through-hole and SMT components to J-STD-001 Standards
  • check_circleCoordinate with Electronics Engineers to resolve technical problems and clarify design details
  • check_circleCheck functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance
  • check_circleRecommend changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly
  • check_circleRead and interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, and wire lists
  • check_circleOperate electronics-related test equipment including oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers

Requirements

  • verifiedAbility to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

  • verifiedAssociate's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar field; OR completion of a formal resident trade school or apprentice program in electronics; OR completion of at least two (2) U.S. Navy
  • verifiedSolder certification level courses including IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, and IPC-A-620
  • verifiedTen (10)+ years of progressive experience supporting production, integration, installation, repair, troubleshooting, or maintenance of electronic systems or equipment
  • verifiedAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • verifiedStrong soldering experience with both Through Hole and Surface Mount Technology (SMT) electronic components
  • verifiedAbility to operate electronics-related equipment such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, regulated DC power supplies, frequency counters, and spectrum analyzers

Nice to Have

U.S. Navy Miniature/Micro-Miniature Certification (NEC 1591, 9526, 9527) and/or IPC J-STD-001 Certification (Modules 1-6). Completion of U.S. Navy Electronic Technician or equivalent 'A' school and 'C' school.
