As a Component Design Engineer for gas turbine inlets, nacelles, installations, and exhaust (INIE), you will join the global Structures & Controls Engineering, Technology & Safety organization. Your mission is to develop complex engineering solutions that meet cutting-edge aerospace functional and physical requirements while ensuring robustness for manufacturing. Within your assigned propulsion system program, you will drive the development, assessment, and delivery of INIE hardware and systems that push the envelope regarding performance, life, and efficiency.
You will be responsible for creating design concepts, optimizing them to final definition, and preparing technical documentation. This role involves performing dimensional analyses, supporting the creation of drawings, and delivering hardware for validation and production release. You will also conduct analyses to substantiate suitability for new engine applications and extended performance of existing engines. A key part of your day involves presenting and defending design solutions to program leadership and stakeholders, as well as supporting the supply chain in procuring hardware and reviewing supplier documentation.
When issues arise in manufacturing, assembly, service, or the aftermarket, you will provide prompt support to keep production on target and the fleet in operation. You will also lead investigations into in-service and development hardware issues, performing failure analysis and root cause/corrective action (RCCA) reporting while sharing findings with the global turbomachinery team in compliance with export control regulations.
