The Community Mediator is a vital member of the C.R.I.S.E.S. program's Street team, operating at the intersection of outreach and crisis intervention. This role exists to de-escalate non-violent situations and facilitate client integration by connecting individuals with essential community resources. You will be the face of our mission on the ground, building trust with houseless and formerly incarcerated populations through proactive outreach and consistent engagement.
In this position, you will walk assigned routes to identify crises requiring early intervention. Your day involves providing immediate crisis support, conducting regular check-ins to assess ongoing needs, and accompanying clients to essential services like food banks, shelters, and medical facilities. Beyond direct intervention, you will distribute educational materials on trauma and conflict resolution, while maintaining detailed records to help drive systemic program improvements.
