The KU School of Law is seeking a Communications Specialist to serve as a storyteller and strategic partner in promoting the school's mission. This role is designed to amplify the achievements of our faculty, students, and alumni while shaping the narrative of the law school through diverse digital and print channels.
As the Communications Specialist, you will be the voice behind the law school's website, blog, social media, and publications. You will collect, prepare, and disseminate news that resonates with a variety of audiences, ranging from prospective students to the broader legal community. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with a keen eye for detail, capable of blending excellent writing with graphic design, website management, and multimedia production.
Your day-to-day will involve a dynamic mix of writing news releases and feature stories, managing the school's digital presence, and collaborating with offices across the campus to develop cohesive messaging. You will also play a key role in event support, ensuring that both in-person and virtual gatherings are promoted effectively and documented professionally.

This is a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE), benefits-eligible, unclassified staff position. The role operates on a hybrid work arrangement, requiring the incumbent to work both remotely and on-site at the Lawrence, Kansas campus based on a set departmental schedule. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional after-hours availability required to cover law school events and activities.
