The Communications Engineer serves as a critical lifeline for mission support, managing the complete lifecycle of deployable communications systems. From initial design and development to installation and ongoing maintenance, this position ensures that technical infrastructure remains robust in the face of complex operational demands. The role exists to bridge the gap between advanced technical capabilities and tactical field requirements, ensuring that leadership has accurate, real-time data to make informed decisions.
In this capacity, you will not only troubleshoot, repair, and modify circuits and components to certify system readiness but also act as a strategic advisor. You will evaluate the adequacy of communications services for mission support, identifying inoperative equipment and coordinating the integration of new items into existing data transmission components. Your work directly supports NIMBLE ELDER Modernization efforts, specifically within the area of WMD search, ensuring that the Department and Technical Support Group Chiefs have the necessary tools to execute their objectives.
A significant portion of your day will involve training personnel on the tactical use of fielded systems. You will instruct members of the Department and supported forces on how to utilize these communications platforms to accomplish tactical missions in air, land, and sea environments. Additionally, you will serve as a COMSEC user, responsible for the secure receipt, utilization, loading, maintenance, and destruction of COMSEC keys, ensuring strict adherence to security protocols for NSA-provided authorized accounts.
This role is integral to supporting DTRA and COCOM CBRN WMD search training, exercises, and operations. The environment is dynamic and demanding, requiring personnel to be physically and mentally qualified for deployment in austere, hostile environments. Success in this position requires the ability to perform duties in all operational settings while maintaining deployment qualifications as referenced in DoD Instruction 3020.41, Field Manual (FM) 7-22, and the DTRA Deployment Readiness Guide for Contractors.
Candidates must possess a Top Secret Clearance with current SCI eligibility to be considered for this position. Applications are processed through the JazzHR platform.
