Systems Administrator

About the Role

BAE Systems is seeking an experienced System Administrator to join the Engineering, Development, Integration and Sustainment (EDIS) team. This role is critical to the Contract Support Services (CSS) for the Research and Development Space and Missile Operations (RDSMO) program Ground System Enterprise (GSE). You will work within a cross-functional team to support the United States Space Force (USSF) and Space Systems Command (SSC) in making the nation's national security space enterprise more resilient.

The position is based at Schriever AFB, where the environment is approximately 90% Linux. As a System Administrator, you will provide hands-on experience designing, installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining enterprise systems. Success in this role requires a team-oriented and customer-focused attitude, as you will serve multiple locations and various end users. You will interface with network engineers, systems engineers, and subject matter experts to troubleshoot hardware, networking, and software problems in a multi-node environment.

About the Team

You will be part of a highly technical team performing evaluation tests and maintaining the integrity of the GSE. The team operates in a dynamic environment where you will oversee the execution of security measures, apply DISA STIG compliance controls, and manage daily system monitoring, security, server health, and log management for both Linux and Windows systems. Your work directly contributes to the sustainment of operations and the resilience of national security space assets.

Hiring Process

Candidates selected for this role will undergo a standard vetting process appropriate for government contract support. Please note that a TS/SCI with SAP caveat is a preferred qualification, and specific certifications (DOD 8570 IAT Level II) are required. The interview process typically includes a review of technical qualifications, a discussion of past experiences with Linux/UNIX administration and security compliance, and an assessment of problem-solving abilities in complex environments.
