At Crossroads Charter Schools, we develop school environments where all students are actively and meaningfully engaged in rigorous instruction and authentic learning tasks. Our mission is to interrupt the "school to prison pipeline" by addressing policies and practices that push at-risk students toward the juvenile and criminal justice systems. We engage families as partners and nurture an open, collaborative, and trusting environment, recognizing that our work is enormous, deeply personal, emotional, and often difficult.
We are committed to four core values: High Expectations, Real World Learning, Creative Culture, and Equity. Our approach includes on-going job-embedded professional development through co-teaching and co-planning.
The Communications & Marketing Manager serves as the district's lead strategist for marketing, storytelling, media relations, public relations, and organizational communications. This role is responsible for leading a bold, innovative, and data-driven strategy that elevates the Crossroads Charter Schools brand across Kansas City and beyond.
You will ensure clear, consistent, strategic, and engaging messaging across all platforms and stakeholder groups, including staff, families, community partners, donors, and the media. The position involves designing and executing creative, multi-channel marketing campaigns to engage prospective families and the broader community, while bringing fresh, forward-thinking ideas to position Crossroads as a leader in public education.
In this role, you will supervise the Community Engagement Coordinator and the Enrollment Coordinator. You will collaborate across departments to align communication strategies with organizational priorities, student and staff recruitment, and family engagement. Additionally, you will work closely with the Development Manager to support fundraising visibility and serve as the district's lead communication contact during emergencies and critical incidents.
