This position serves as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) within a Critical Access Hospital, providing essential nursing care to both non-acute and acutely ill residents. The role is integral to maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive environment for patients and their families. You will work under the direction of Licensed Nurses (LNs), delivering compassionate care that requires a calm, functional demeanor and sound judgment, particularly during emergencies or when managing rapid-paced assignments.
In this Critical Access Hospital setting, the role extends beyond standard CNA duties. You will obtain 12-lead Electrocardiograms (ECGs) and train to perform telemetry monitoring mechanics for inpatients. The position offers opportunities for professional growth, including cross-training into the Emergency Department, Labor Delivery, and Surgical Department to ensure staffing fluidity. Additionally, you may cross-train as a Senior Office Specialist (SOS) or Ward Clerk to support the unit during high census periods.
As a member of the team, you will serve as a preceptor for incoming CNA staff and students once qualified. You are also expected to initiate and participate in Performance/Process Improvement projects within the unit. The work environment is fast-paced, requiring constant responsiveness to patient call lights and the ability to lift and turn non-ambulatory residents regularly. This position is covered under the Indian Child Protection Act.
SEARHC accepts traveler profile applications only from candidates residing at least 50+ miles away from the facility. The rate offered is all-inclusive; housing and flights are not provided. The contract covers 91 weeks with guaranteed hours. Candidates must possess a current, full, unrestricted CNA license in the state of Alaska and a current BLS certification. Additional unit-specific courses, such as POC or waived testing, must be completed and passed.
We are an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion in our workforce.
